Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is broken down into three segments: "applications," "platforms," and "infrastructure." Each segment serves a different purpose and offers different products for businesses and individuals around the world. In June 2009, a study conducted found that 41% of senior IT professionals actually didn't know what cloud computing was and two-thirds of senior finance professionals are confused by the concept, highlighting the young nature of the technology. In Sept 2009, a study found that disciplined companies achieved on average an 18% reduction in their IT budget from cloud computing and a 16% reduction in data center power costs.

Applications: It's “On Demand”
On Demand software services come in a few different varieties which vary in their pricing scheme and how the software is delivered to the end users. In the past, the end-user would generally purchase a server and is accessed by the end user over the internet. While this is the most common platform for On Demand software services, this is steadily evolving into a technology which hosts many different types of applications in many different categories. From outsourcing your entire sales management system (salesforce.com), to ad-hoc e-mail hosting through Google, you can run an entire company without a single in house server. Here at Technically Creative, we look at your needs and your office and figure out which cloud services would benefit you and possibly build you your own cloud service to meet your need.

Platforms: “Who has my server?”
Many of the companies that started out providing On Demand application services have developed platform services as well. The platform segment of cloud computing refers to products that are used to deploy a suite of tools that tie together as an entire solution. NetSuite, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have also developed platforms that allow users to access and manage/develop applications from centralized servers thus extending an internal network to a cloud environment. While Technically Creative is not a Platform provider, we do build, develop, manage and implement platforms for your company.

Infrastructure:
The final segment in cloud computing, known as the infrastructure, is very much the backbone of the entire concept. Infrastructure vendors environments (such as Google gears) that allow users to build applications. Cloud storage, such as Amazon's S3 or Rackspace Cloud files, is also considered to be part of the infrastructure segment. At Technically Creative, we specialize in building you a cloud infrastructure that meets your needs. Weather on the internet or in house, a cloud infrastructure could help maximize your productivity and reduce your technical costs.

We will work with you to design and build an environment tailored to meet your needs. Contact us for more information.
